OVERVIEW
Kymera is a next-generation electric kettle system that reimagines the daily ritual of boiling water through the lens of form, function, and emotional clarity. With a detachable base, fast-swap spout designs tailored for both coffee and tea, and an ergonomically engineered handle, every element is shaped by research and refined through practice.
The design leverages subtle visual cues and tactile feedback to guide intuitive use—eliminating guesswork while enhancing the sensory experience. From meticulously designed spout, lid, and handle that aligns with natural pouring gestures to multiple silicone-wrapped interface parts that anchors subconscious memory, Kymera transforms routine into resonance.
Built with a focus on usability, safety, and visual harmony, Kymera aligns traditional sensibilities with modern performance—an object equally suited to the café counter and the contemplative home.
Kymera began as a multi-component countertop system designed for the evolving specialty coffee and tea market. Initially planned to be an investor-ready design project initiated by a team of two, it was ultimately shelved in early 2025 due to unforeseen external conflicts, remaining as a visionary design exploration.

KYMERA, THE BEST OF TWO WORLDS
The name Kymera draws inspiration from the mythical creature Chimaera—a being composed of multiple animals, symbolizing hybrid strength and harmony in both it's form and function. In the same spirit, Kymera merges the distinct rituals of traditional steeped tea and pour over coffee into a single, refined, modular brewing tool. By combining the precision required by expert coffee barista with the grace and flow essential to traditional tea steeping, Kymera offers the best of both worlds—engineered for versatility, designed for ritual, centered around the user.

Package Concept
Two packaging concepts were explored to balance presentation, protection, and storytelling.
Concept A features a sculpted high-rise insert that elegantly supports the kettle by its spout—a form inspired by the Chinese idiom “高山流水” (High Mountains and Flowing Water), symbolizing harmony and deep connection. The elevated form brings a sense of motion and rhythm, while also incorporating a dedicated cardholder slot and hidden compartments for accessories and cables beneath.
Concept B is an earlier structural direction focused on efficiently shipping both the coffee and tea spouts together in one compact, secure configuration.
